School spending. Lawmakers consider bringing back the “critical needs” millage, reports Gradebook. The Lee school district is auctioning off two unused buildings, reports the Fort Myers News Press.

School safety. Lawmakers are poised to pass legislation that would allow school nurses to use EpiPens for students without a prescription. Tampa Bay Times.

Technology. Miami-Dade is spending $100 million on upgrades to modernize classrooms. Miami Herald.

Teacher conduct. Duval fires a teacher with a history of allegedly hitting students with books, reports the Florida Times Union. The Broward district is poised to fire two teachers with a history of harassing students, reports the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Pinellas Superintendent Mike Grego wants more power to fire and suspend employees, reports the Tampa Tribune.

Teacher evaluations. Rep. Janet Adkins, R-Fernandina Beach, files union-supported legislation to exempt teacher evaluation data from public records laws in the wake of a Florida Times Union lawsuit.

Diversity. Fresh from rezoning, the Seminole school board is worried about the high concentration of low-income students in portions of Sanford. Orlando Sentinel.
